Xania Monet, a musical artist driven by artificial intelligence, has made their way to the Billboard radio charts.

The AI singer’s “How Was I Supposed to Know?” was slotted at No. 30 on the latest Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Monet also claimed the No. 1 spot on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart. The artist has also landed on the Hot Gospel Songs, Hot R&B Songs and Emerging Artists charts since releasing her debut single in August.

The singer’s lyrics are composed by Telisha “Nikki” Jones, a poet who created the artist with AI-powered music generator platform Suno.

Monet has reportedly accumulated 44.4 million official U.S. streams, collecting over $52,000 since the summer. The singer landed a $3 million record deal with Hallwood Media in September.

The AI artist’s quick rise to fame has been met with backlash from musicians who don’t agree with AI’s integration into music.

Grammy-nominated singer Kehlani recently took to social media to express her frustration with the presence of AI in music.

“There is an AI R&B artist who just signed a multimillion-dollar deal … and the person is doing none of the work,” Kehlani said in a TikTok video that has since been deleted. “Nothing and no one on Earth will ever be able to justify AI to me. I don’t respect it.”
