New exhibition created by three talented artists comes to Waterford amid major success

A joint painting exhibition by three amazing artists will now feature at The Old Market House Arts Centre in Dungarvan. 

‘Creations of a Colourful Mind’ by Marja van Kampen, Olivia O’Keeffe and Martina Furlong officially opened on Saturday, May 9. 

This is a national touring exhibition, which has previously featured in counties Cork, Clare, Tipperary, Wicklow, Wexford and Laois. Due to their success at the Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre last spring, they are now back in Waterford to celebrate their tenth exhibition together. 

Not only is their painting collection well-travelled but so are the three women artists.

Marja van Kampen, originally from The Netherlands, has lived in the South of France and spent 30 years in Galway. She currently lives in Wexford and was awarded ‘Most Creative Abstract Artist’ in the Irish Enterprise Awards 2024. 

Olivia O’Keeffe is originally from Cork but has lived in the USA. She currently lives in the Netherlands, having completed a B.A. in both Fine Art and Art Education there. 

Martina Furlong, born and raised in Wexford, studied at the Limerick School of Art. She lived in London for 16 years before returning to her home county, where she currently resides. 

For this exhibition, each artist undergoes a journey of exploration of nature; from the everchanging colours and textures of land and sea to the intricate details of flora and fauna. 

This results in a dynamic collection of paintings varying from representational to abstract depictions of the Irish landscape. 

The Arts Centre is open Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 5pm (with a lunchtime close of 1:30 to 2.30pm) and on Saturdays from 1pm to 5pm. This exhibition will continue until early July. 

Admission is free and all are welcome!
