This lifelong football fan has just had the creative opportunity of a lifetime ⚽

A Leeds-based artist who is a lifelong football fan couldn’t believe his luck when he was invited to design the official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Scarf Collection.

Tom Pitt and his team at Hand Drawn Pixels, an Otley-based creative agency, were asked by Global Scarves, to create a bespoke design for each qualifying World Cup country.

The team have create almost 200 unique scarf designs which will be seen on the global stage when the World Cup kicks off in LA next month.

Tom and his team created a unique design for each qulaifying country and celebrating the spirit of football, cultural history and its fans.

Every design was crafted to stand alone, while also working cohesively in a retail environment and to sit alongside a bucket hat collection.

Tom said: “It’s been an amazing creative challenge for us to truly reflect the individuality and diversity of the nations competing in this prestigious tournament on such an iconic product as the football scarf.

“The final scarf collection is testament to a truly collaborative approach between us and our client, Global Scarves LLC. We’ve combined our designs with their technical expertise to create products that we hope football fans across the world will treasure.”

As football scarves bear great cultural significance as a symbol of identity, pride and belonging, Tom and his team took great care to ensure every country received a scarf which reflected their cultural identity.

Tom said: “We’ve taken deep dives into national flag colours, football kit history, cultural patterns, historic figures, artists and iconic visual language specific to each country. Some designs reference heritage directly, others interpret it in a more abstract, contemporary way.

“Each nation developed its own distinct visual language, celebrating football culture, national identity and supporter pride. The whole project has been a huge personal learning experience, gaining deeper cultural insight into every nation involved.”
