Pop icon Lady Gaga received the highest nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and accepted the prestigious Artist of the Year award with a special shoutout to fiancée Michael Polansky, to whom she was engaged last year.
The Shallow singer took home one of the biggest awards of the night and took a moment to appreciate her partner for being there for her through thick and thin.

While receiving the award, the 39-year-old popstar took a moment to appreciate her partner. “To my partner in all things, Michael, creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream,” she shared. “And you have been my partner every step of the way. I dedicate this to you, to my love,” Gaga added. The singer further thanked her fans for having her back and supporting her. “Thank you, little monsters, my fans, for always supporting me and always supporting the monster in me,” she said.
After the speech, Gaga made her exit from the VMAs, as she had to get back to Manhattan and perform a show at Madison Square Garden as a part of her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour. The Abracadabra singer pre-recorded her VMAs performance the night before on the MSG show, which was later aired at the award ceremony.
Michael Polansky’s Involvement in Lady Gaga’s Music
Previously, Lady Gaga was seen thanking Polansky for encouraging her to lean back into the joy of pop music, which led to the creation of Gaga’s most recent album, Mayhem. Michael Polansky is credited as a writer on few songs, including Disease and Vanish into You. He is often seen attending Gaga’s concerts to show his support. At a tour stop in July, Gaga was seen shouting out Polansky, calling him “the love of my life”.
