Theodore Wakeman died on Wednesday, August 27, after being struck by a Renault Clio while attempting to cross the A1065 Raynham Road.

The incident happened close to Sculthorpe, on the outskirts of Fakenham and not far from his home in the village.

On Monday, an inquest into Mr Wakeman’s death was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court.

It heard he had been born in Great Chesterford in Essex and was employed as an artist.

Area coroner Yvonne Blake added that the medical cause of his death had been given provisionally as multiple injuries due to a road traffic collision.

She adjourned the hearing until April 10, when a review hearing will be held.

Following the incident, Norfolk Constabulary appealed for anybody who witnessed the crash to come forward with evidence.

The tragedy also prompted calls from neighbours for improvements to be made to help people cross the stretch of road.
