Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ has been making waves across the world with its dazzling costumes and captivating storyline. In the recently released season, one element that captured everyone’s attention was Queen Charlotte’s extravagant wig, featuring moving swans inside it. This iconic wig instantly became a fan favourite when it was featured in an episode. Taking inspiration from this creative masterpiece, artist Ryan Terhune decided to recreate the wig with a unique twist: she used her own hair.

In an Instagram video, Terhune first constructs a base to pin her hair. Once the structure is securely in place, she styles her hair strand by strand, recreating the intricate design. To emulate the moving swans, Terhune crafts swans out of paper and attaches them to a small mechanism that allows for movement. After carefully placing the mechanism at the center of her styled hair, the recreation is complete.

Sharing her creative process, Terhune wrote in the caption, “The moment I saw Queen Charlotte’s Swan wig in episode four, I knew I HAD to try recreating it. It took a lot of prep and planning, and I was incredibly nervous about it, but I think it turned out okay.”

Emma Rigby, the original wig designer for the show, also shared a reel on Instagram, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the iconic wig, including the clever mechanism that animates the swans.
