Interview With Edu Schwartz
-What inspired you to start producing music, and how did you get your start in the industry?
I initially started as a DJ, and my curiosity about how electronic music was made grew over time. I wanted exclusive material for my DJ sets, which inspired me to begin producing my own music.
This desire to create unique tracks for my performances was helpful in connecting with people in the industry, further advancing my career in music production.
-Can you describe the journey you took from your early days as a producer to where you are now?
I started DJing in 2005, and my first production course was in 2013. At first, I wasn’t very focused on producing music because my primary goal was to DJ. However, as time went on, the desire to create my own material for my DJ sets started growing on me. When I started, there wasn’t much YouTube content available, which made the learning process much slower. It took 7 years to release my first track.
Despite this, my passion for producing unique tracks eventually led me from my early days as a producer to where I am now, having released more than 50 tracks, including originals and remixes.
-What role has collaboration played in your career, and how has working with other artists influenced your music?
Collaboration has played a super important role in my career. It’s crucial to get the best from each person you work with, as you realize there are many ways to achieve the sound you want. Every time you work with another artist, it’s a huge opportunity to learn new techniques and different workflows, which ultimately makes you better. Additionally, it’s a great way to reach a wider audience and gain more public exposure.
These collaborative experiences have significantly influenced my music, continually expanding my skills and creativity.
-Can you talk about the importance of networking and building relationships in the music industry?
Networking and building relationships are especially important in the electronic music industry. These connections can open doors to new opportunities, collaborations, and resources that you might not have access to otherwise.
Building a strong network helps you stay informed about industry trends, gain valuable advice, and find support from others who understand the challenges you face. Relationships with other artists, producers, promoters, and fans can significantly enhance your career, providing the foundation for growth and success in the music world.
-Can you share any specific moments or milestones that were pivotal in your career?
As a DJ and producer, a pivotal moment in my career was building a relationship with Warung’s crew. They made a big difference by inviting me to play there and releasing my first track on their label. Another super important milestone was my first trip to Ibiza. I spent two months there, attending numerous parties, which gave me a new perspective on DJing and deeply influenced my approach to music. These experiences were crucial in shaping my career and growth as an artist.
-What are your future goals and aspirations, both as a producer and within the music industry as a whole?
I am involved in another project called Duo State with my studio partner, Jack District. Our main goal with this project is to play only original tracks. You’ll hear a lot of music from both myself and Duo State in the future. As a producer and within the music industry as a whole, my aspirations are to continue creating innovative music, expanding my reach, and connecting with a broader audience. I aim to push the boundaries of electronic music and collaborate with other talented artists to bring fresh and exciting sounds to the scene.
Someday, I also hope to tour around the world, sharing my music with fans globally and experiencing the diverse music cultures of different countries.
