Dunmow Art Group welcomes a renowned wildlife artist for a talk and demonstration on how to purr-fect the skill of capturing animals.
Becky Gouverneur is a professional animal artist specialising in charcoal, graphite and pastel portraiture. Her work is known for its strong sense of realism and striking use of tone and has been exhibited several times at the Mall Galleries in London, including being shortlisted for the Wildlife Artist of the Year award.
She will give the talk via Zoom in the Talberd Room at Dunmow’s Foakes Hall from 7.30pm-9.30pm on Wednesday May 20.

Alongside commissions and exhibitions, Becky runs workshops, demos and also produces teaching content, sharing the techniques behind her process. Her approach is shaped by a photographic background, using digital methods to develop composition before bringing the image to life in charcoal.
She is currently in the final stages of writing a book on charcoal drawing, to be published by Search Press and due for release in January next year.
In the two-hour live demonstration, Becky will demonstrate the process of drawing with charcoal, talking through her techniques and decision-making along the way, offering an insight into how these detailed and expressive works come together.

Dunmow Art Group is also hosting a workshop with watercolour artist Mandy Whittick, a long-term member of the group, from 1pm-3pm on Monday 18 May, also at Foakes Hall.
The class costs £1 for members and £10 for non-members and Mandy will be helping people to recreate loose flowers in watercolour, helping to build their confidence in their own artwork.
Mandy exhibits locally and enjoys working in acrylic, watercolour, ink and pastels in a variety of subjects.
