The Old Forge Library is inviting artists from across the region to participate in Local ART, a community-wide, open exhibition celebrating two-dimensional artwork and the enduring creative spirit of the Adirondacks. The exhibit will be on display from July 2 through Au. 1, with an opening reception scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 2.
Open to artists of all ages and experience levels, the exhibition welcomes submissions in a variety of media, including photography, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, collage, printmaking, quilting and drawing. There is no fee to enter.
“Local ART truly brings the community together,” said Library Director Linda Weal. “Each year, we’re inspired by the range of talent and perspectives on display. From beginners sharing their work publicly for the first time to the established artists who have shaped our local scene for decades, this show continues a legacy that celebrates the creative spirit of the Adirondacks.”
The exhibition continues a longstanding tradition of community art shows in Old Forge that dates back to the 1950s, when View Arts Center founding member, Mirnie Kashiwa, first organized local exhibits highlighting regional talent.
While there is no fee to participate, artists may choose to donate a portion of any artwork sales to support library programming and community initiatives.
The submission deadline is June 23. Entry forms and submission guidelines are available online at oldforgelibrary.org or in person at the library, located at 220 Crosby Blvd. in Old Forge.
