Shatterproof Glass: A diary of heartache and resurrection is the debut exhibition by photographer and self-portrait artist Zoë Schulz, who uses film photography and diary-style poetry to process and reflect on a deeply personal journey of loss and recovery.
The exhibition will run from Friday, November 28 to Sunday, November 30 at BAS 2 in Trafalgar Street, Brighton.
Ms Schulz said: “Shatterproof Glass is a collection of self-portraits and writing reflecting on what was an incredibly hard chapter of my life.

“At the end of 2024, I had my heart broken just days after a suicide attempt, and what came next almost broke me. It was a period of putting myself back together.
“Realising that relationship was not what I had thought it was. Coming back to myself and also trying to figure out who I was again after such turbulence.”
The images were created over 12 months as Ms Schulz worked to rebuild her sense of self and identity.
The artist, who is based in Brighton, works primarily with analogue photography.
Her work has previously been shown in exhibitions in Paris and London, and she is a member of the Brighton Queer Photographers Collective.
