Art Guild hosting free painting workshop with Artist Ron Mack

[ad_1]

The Dubois County Art Guild is hosting still-life painter Ron Mack for a free painting workshop in September as part of its mission to foster stronger community connections through art and friendship.

The Dubois County Art Guild’s goal in 2025 is to address loneliness and isolation among older residents in Dubois County. The Guild would like to encourage people to get up, get out and get active through the joys of creating art.

According to AARP, a 2023 advisory report by the U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Marthy revealed research shows one in two adults in America experience loneliness. Feelings of loneliness and isolation can become a health risk associated with a 29% increase risk of heart disease, 32% increase risk of stroke and a 50% increased risk of dementia for older adults.

With help from the Community Impact Fund and Jasper Arts, the Dubois County Art Guild will host a FREE oil painting workshop at the Thyen/Clark Cultural Center in Jasper. This event will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants should park in the east parking lot and enter at the loading dock door.

Professional artist Ron Mack will be the instructor.

Ron is renowned for his meticulous still-life paintings and nostalgic landscapes. He is represented in many private and corporate collections. His artwork has been exhibited in several galleries, including the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville, the Masterpiece Gallery in Indianapolis, the Hoosier Art Salon Gallery in Broad Ripple, the Off Broadway Gallery in Greenwood, and a one-man show at the Thyen/Clark Cultural Center in Jasper.

This talented artist has been awarded many distinctions, but feels that his most significant accomplishments were being part of the “Painting Indiana” book project, in which he contributed 19 landscapes. His paintings also appear in another book, “Painting Indiana, The Changing Face of Agriculture”.

Ron conducts workshops and has taught classes at the Southside Art League in Greenwood.

All necessary supplies will be provided for a step-by-step landscape painting workshop. Participants are to bring a sack lunch. Please reserve your spot by emailing the Guild at DuboisCountyArtGuild@gmail.com.
