A NEW exhibition exploring cycles of growth, decay, and renewal is opening in Colchester next month.
The Constant State of Becoming showcases the work of Wivenhoe artist Charlotte Bernays.
The exhibition at The Minories Gallery from Saturday, May 9 to Thursday, June 28.
Emma Howe, director of The Minories, said: “Charlotte is, at heart, an observer.
“But hers is not the detached gaze of someone watching from a distance.
“She is inside life, feeling its textures and rhythms, turning experience over in her hands before finding ways to give it form.”
The exhibition features sculpture, drawing, and mixed-media pieces, reflecting Charlotte’s fascination with nature’s transformative processes.
Her work aims to highlight the continuous cycles of growth and decay in the natural world.
Born in Sussex in 1952, Charlotte has a background in English and ceramic sculpture, and her practice spans decades of teaching and creative work across the East of England.
Her art has been inspired by poetry, particularly John Keats, and the Essex landscape.
Entry to the exhibition is free, and visitors are encouraged to take their time exploring the works on display.
A launch event will take place on May 9 between 12pm and 3pm, and is open to everyone.
