ST. ALBANS — The mechanical buzz of tattoo needles provided the audible backdrop for a busy weekend at St. Albans City Hall, thanks to the 2nd Annual Rail City Tattoo Festival.
Organized by 100 Candles Tattoo shop owners Jhon and Jodi Rodriguez, the festival invited 45 tattoo artists from throughout Vermont in a two-day event this past weekend that celebrated the state’s tattoo industry, while bringing new shoppers into downtown St. Albans.
Last year, the inaugural event brought 1,500 attendees into St. Albans City Hall, and organizers were looking to improve upon that number this year.
By this past Saturday afternoon, the activity inside city hall showed they were well on their way, with lines of people checking out the various art styles and specializations of each tattoo artist before choosing their favorite.
Plenty of customers were also ready to get inked on scene, with people getting comfortable as the tattoo needles fired up.
Visitors to this year’s tattoo festival could also check out vendors, such as sign painters, stained glass artists and clothing brands, that set up to take advantage of the weekend’s crowds. A punk rock show was also hosted at 14th Star Brewing Co. Saturday night.
