British Nigerian photographer Tayo Adekunle’s new solo exhibition explores the power of stories in the preservation of culture. The exhibition focuses on those who have been misrepresented, mistreated or ignored, decolonising and reworking historical tropes relating to Black people. An important part of Adekunle’s practice is how she uses her work to celebrate the richness of her heritage. In this image, Yemoja depicts the motherly orisha, or deity, from Yoruba spiritual practice. Stories of the Unseen, part of Edinburgh art festival, is at Edinburgh Printmakers until 10 November
