Take Me to the River Festival at Sen. Thomas Norton City Pier in Fall River
Get ready for an evening of music, food, art, and fun, with the Take Me to the River Festival at the Sen. Thomas Norton City Pier, 600 Davol St., Fall River.
Presented by the Narrows Center for the Arts, the Take Me to the River Festival will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 10 p.m.
Admission is free.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
The festival will feature Grammy winner Dave Alvin and Grammy nominee Jimmie Dale Gilmore, with The Guilty Ones. Also featured will be Cracker, and Vanessa Collier.

Upcoming concerts at Narrows Center for the Arts
There are a couple of concerts coming up at the Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., Fall River.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy recipient Jorma Kaukonen, of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, will be performing on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 8 to 10 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $58 in advance, and $60 on the day of the show. Find tickets online at https://tinyurl.com/2efe9nrv.

Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition presents ‘Take Me to the River’ exhibition
There’s a new exhibition at The Ignition Space, 44 Troy St.
The Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition presents “Take Me to the River,” bringing together a diverse group of artists to explore, respect, and educate on the importance of our waterways.
This exhibit features Diana Arvanites, Alyn Carlson, Alma Cummings, Corrinn Jusell, Chris Page, Heather Stivison, and Soundscapes by Scott Bishop.
The exhibit is on view until Aug. 25.
This curated exhibit, led by Arvanites, consists of multimedia artwork, gathering the community around the concept of the river.
The Ignition Space is free to visit and open Thursday to Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.

The FRACC supports this exhibition through the Ignition Project, made possible by the TDI Creative Catalyst Grant Program, administered by MassDevelopment and funded by the Barr Foundation.
Kids’ drawing class at New Bedford Art Museum
There will be a kids’ drawing class at New Bedford Art Museum, 608 Pleasant St., on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Children age 7 to 12 will engage in various drawing techniques; lessons are related to an exhibition or themes of the month.
The cost is $36 for members, and $40 for non-members.

Sonata Saturday with New Bedford Symphony Orchestra
The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra presents Sonata Saturday, held on the fourth Saturday of each summer month.
This month’s Sonata Saturday will be held on Aug. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a small group of NBSO musicians performing at The Drawing Room, 22 William St., New Bedford.
This free concert series includes special events with every performance.
The Aug. 24 concert will feature Laura Shamu (oboe), and Maria Spraker (harp).

Trail Explorers in Westport: Headwaters
Trail Explorers will be visiting the Headwaters Conservation Area in Westport, 187 Blossom Road, on Friday, Aug. 23, from 8 to 10 a.m.
The area encompasses 145 acres around the headwaters of Bread and Cheese Brook, and 2 ½ miles of trails run parallel to the brook and pass through pines and hardwoods.

Summer walk at Dunham’s Brook in Westport
Enjoy Dunham’s Brook Conservation Area, 1520 Main Road, Westport, through the seasons.
There will be a summer walk there on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8 to 10 a.m.
Look for late-season meadow blooms and listen to the sounds of nature.

Puddingstone music series: ‘Families in Motion’
The Puddingstone music series continues on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m., with “Families in Motion” at St. Columba’s Chapel, 55 Vaucluse Ave., Middletown.
This event for families and children will feature a range of music, dance, and acrobatic performance.
Weather permitting, it will be held outside on the grounds and inside the chapel.
John Lindsay (saxophone), Colescott Rubin (bass and unicycle), and Katie Moorhead (dance) will join Puddingstone founder and pianist Clemens Teufel.
There will be unicycling, a dance workshop, a sing-along, and an instrument petting zoo.
This event is free. Food and drinks will be provided.
