The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, has inaugurated the art exhibition for school children entitled “Caritas Fest” in the Parliament of Malta. Through their drawings on display, children illustrated “how they would like to see Malta”, echoing themes for Malta to remain authentic, natural, and beautiful.
Through this exhibition, children showed their desire for our country to be clean and not lose either of its natural landscape, historical heritage, or its traditional Maltese customs.
In their drawings, the children also conveyed messages on the increasingly large number of vehicles on our roads, the subsequent traffic congestion, and the quantity of modern buildings that have been built in recent years that are not easy on the eye and do not match the character of traditional houses found across Maltese towns and villages.
In this exhibition, children emphasised that our country’s cultural and historical heritage should be preserved. Furthermore, they also expressed the need to make greater use of more renewable energy sources and for development across the Maltese islands to be sustainable, in line with the designed criteria of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaker Farrugia praised the children for their participation in this “Caritas Fest” exhibition and for recognizing the good in the country that they love. He reiterated that this exhibition shows how active they are as several concrete proposals were put forward for authorities to carry out so that Malta is always kept cleaner and more beautiful. He also stressed the desire shown by the children for peace among us and in the world.
