Thirteen years after Princess Kate’s wedding to Prince William, makeup artist Bobbi Brown has debunked a major rumor about the bride’s appearance.

“I did not do her makeup. I wish I did. It was one of my artists, Hannah Martin,” Brown confirmed to hosts and fellow makeup artists, Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins, on their Breaking Beauty podcast, released on Wednesday, September 24.

Dunn said her “jaw dropped” when she first read the detail in Brown’s new book, Still Bobbi: A Master Class in Leading an Authentic Life.

“At the time, in the press, and I think up until right now, we were led to believe that she had done her own makeup,” Dunn added.

Her company didn’t take credit because “no one did that” back then, Brown — who revealed that she and Martin excitedly texted throughout the April 29, 2011 event — said. “It wasn’t the right thing to do.”

“I did get a note that I have hanging now in my office — not from Kate, but from her person that wrote her letters saying how much she appreciated the makeup.”

People reported in 2011 that the princess, now 43, was unhappy about her look in her engagement photos, so she decided to get private tutorials from a makeup artist before doing the makeup herself on her wedding day.
