Launched this week on Kickstarter is the artist edition of Body Bags, in partnership with 12-Gauge Comics. The entire collection, which is comprised of 200 original art pages from the late Jason Pearson’s creator-owned series, is oversized. Included in the stretch goals for the campaign are 33 unseen pages from the abandoned Father’s Day sequel from 1999 and 14 pages from the 2015 Body Bags: Freebies online short stories, as well as pin-ups and more!

“Jason Pearson was a friend of mine and was an incredibly talented guy,” says editor Scott Dunbier. “I wanted to do something that solidified his legacy, and the Artist Edition format is as close to the artist’s intent on the page as possible.”

12-Gauge Publisher Keven Gardner says “Jason was one of my closest friends, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor his memory than to get this amazing showcase of his art— the art that meant the most to him, out into the world.”

BIRMINGHAM, AL/SAN DIEGO, CA – As revealed earlier this year at their debut Comic-Con International panel, Artist Edition originator and multiple Eisner Wward winning editor Scott Dunbier’s newly minted Act 4 Publishing has partnered with the 20 year action comics publishing powerhouse 12-Gauge Comics for a special oversized collection of 200 original art pages from the late Jason Pearson’s creator-owned series, Body Bags!

“Jason Pearson was a friend of mine and was an incredibly talented guy” says Scott Dunbier. “I wanted to do something that solidified his legacy, and the Artist Edition format is as close to the artist’s intent on the page as possible.”

Because none of the original art pages from Body Bags: Father’s Day, Body Bags: Three the Hard Way, the Body Bags one-shot, or any of the corresponding covers were ever sold, all are included to make this a complete collection. Included in the stretch goals for the campaign are 33 unseen pages from the abandoned Father’s Day sequel from 1999, and 14 pages from the 2015 Body Bags: Threebies online short stories, as well as pin-ups and more!

12-Gauge Publisher Keven Gardner says “Jason was one of my closest friends, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor his memory than to get this amazing showcase of his art— the art that meant the most to him, out into the world.”

Originally published by Dark Horse beginning in 1996 and eventually reprinted in color through 12-Gauge Comics and Image Comics, Body Bags takes place in a fictionalized city of Terminus, GA and at its core is centered on the estranged father/daughter relationship of bounty hunters Mack Delgado (Clownface) and Panda, who is constantly seeking her father’s approval as they navigate a world full of bounty hunters and cold-blooded killers.

Also this week, Jason Pearson’s legendary creations return to comics in a special crossover with Tim Seeley’s own Cassie Hack in a special mini-series, Hack/Slash=Body Bags! When slasher hunters Cassie & Vlad roll into Terminus, GA in search of a killer, they’re instantly up to their asses in bounty hunters! Meanwhile, Mack “Clownface” Delgado needs to school his daughter Panda in the ways of Bodybagging, and it needs to happen quickly, which means a private school lock-in for baggers in training-and a teen-slicing slasher. Yeah, big knives, short skirts, and swear words are gonna start flying. Worlds collide in the most twisted crossover of 2024, that reintroduces the cult-favorite crew of Body Bags, from Eisner nominee Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli in comic shops everywhere on October 23!

Visit the campaign page for more information on tiers, add-ons, and an exclusive offer for those whose rewards were never fulfilled from Jason’s previous Kickstarter campaign due to his untimely passing.
