“I still can’t believe it all, honestly. I feel I have been working my whole life to get to this point,” writes celebrity makeup artist Lucy Bridge of her new appointment as Tom Ford Beauty’s first-ever Global Makeup Artist. “From a makeup artist’s point of view, it is a true honor.

In addition to being a Global Ambassador for the luxury fashion house’s beauty brand, the British makeup artist also serves as the cosmetic counterpart in bringing Creative Director Haider Ackerman’s sartorial visions to life. The appointment reflects tremendously in her technical prowess, but also entrusts her with a certain tact in preserving the brand’s archival identity while also modernizing it. Each aspect is critical to maintaining the line’s cultural significance in high fashion.

Bridge is respected among her peers for the way her cosmetic artistry brings modern art-like, editorial looks to life. Yet she speaks from a place of endearing humility as she recounts how the early days of her career led to this defining moment. After first being spotted by fashion photographer Tim Walker and stylist Jacob K. while on a bus in Shoreditch, London, at the age of twenty, she went on to establish her signature style of “bold and expressive makeup” for top fashion brands like Dries Van Noten, Mugler and Tom Ford.

She met Ackerman in 2023, establishing such a strong professional rapport together on projects with FILA and Jean Paul Gaultier that their collaboration continued with his first Tom Ford show in March 2025. By October, her place in Tom Ford Beauty’s history was made official.

As far as luxury beauty brands go, Tom Ford Beauty has a particular vibe that mixes sophistication with a bold irreverence. They are known for their cheekily branded luxury fragrances and candles (of which Bridge will always associate the scent Black Orchid, $165, with her mother, but names Lost Cherry, $255, as her personal favorite), as well as for high-performing makeup products that make up staples in luxury makeup kits. The brand has also masterfully struck a sort of dignified exclusivity that never gives the impression that they are trying too hard.

The line’s Runway Lip Color lipsticks are the perfect example—with none other than the sultry and beautiful Angelina Jolie as their first-ever celebrity face of the brand. Bridge admits the lipsticks are “of course, iconic,” for their creamy, pigmented formulation. Bridge considers the shade Scarlet Rouge, $62, as her “go-to classic red,” while the unaffiliated celebrity makeup artist Carissa Ferreri names “Spanish Pink” another staple.

The $62 price point reflect an effortlessly dignified self-assurance, but without offending (as some were by the $160 price point of Louis Vuitton Beauté’s lipsticks). This is the type of reputation to keep in mind when you consider what Bridge’s appointment truly means: her work will effectively set the beauty trends to come, making her insights and recommendations nuggets of beauty gold.

“One of the products that I fell in love with years ago was from the 2014 Summer Eye and Cheek Palette called ‘Unabashed,’ [which] was this intense, cobalt blue eyeshadow,” Bridge says. “With just one swipe of your finger into the palette, I felt this highly luxurious and pigmented finish instantly. It was rich in color and perfectly matte in texture; a makeup artist’s dream.”

She suggests newcomers begin the investment in luxury cosmetics with either a foundation or a mascara. “A foundation is the key product to any makeup bag, along with a good mascara,” Bridge advises. “Always invest in a good foundation—you want your base to be perfect, so that everything else you want to add, whether it is contour, a lip or an eye, sits nicely.”

The new Architecture Radiance Hydrating Foundation SPF50+, $95, was how she created the base for her makeup on the Tom Ford AW’25 and SS’26 runways. “I [always] like the skin to feel fresh, radiant and natural, and Haider wanted the models to have pure, healthy and elegant skin for the SS’26 runway show,” she explains. “Its medium-to-high coverage finish with a weightless, serum-like formulation achieved it,” she says.”

If you remember the “broken lashes” from the SS’26 runway show, it as the line’s Emotionproof Mascara in Noir, $60, that she relied upon for long-lasting lash definition. “[For this look] I applied false lashes to the inner and outer corners of the eye only, then pumped up the lashes to make them more dramatic and spiky using this formula,” she adds.

As for the lips, the wine-hued shade “105 Private Client” of the Runway Lip Liner, $46, as her most-reached-for lip pencil to create “three-dimensional lips” that graced the runway. She praises the highly-pigmented, creamy, lightweight formula’s ability to create “the most defined and kissable lips.”

As for two everyday makeup essentials that she deems essential to her personal beauty kit, Bridge raves about the line’s Brow Sculptor, $60, pencil and brush. It allows for a quick and efficacious application due to its “unique calligraphy tip” while maintaining its form without residue. She is also keen on the dual-ended Eye Defining Pen, $65, which allows for precision and versatility when creating a feline flick or wing to the eyelid.

Yet taste in cosmetics is highly subjective, which is why relying upon online reviews can always be hit-or-miss. The good news is that you can now head to Tom Ford Beauty’s first brick-and-mortar location in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City. There, shoppers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the textures, pigments and fragrances that comprise the Tom Ford universe—the very ones Bridge draws upon when concocting her industry-defining looks.
