From July 14 to August 29, the Casa de Cultura in Fuengirola will present the painting exhibition A Brush to Fix the World by one of the most collectible artists in the world, Carina Barone.
Carina Barone, a French-American artist born in Austria and residing between Paris and Marbella, brings a vibrant and unique perspective to her work. With a remarkable career spanning over three decades, Barone transitioned from being a supermodel, trapeze artist, and Hollywood actress, working with acclaimed filmmakers like Jean-Luc Godard and Carlos Saura, to dedicating herself fully to naïve painting. Her colourful, emotive style draws inspiration from Flemish and Italian primitives, as well as masters like Monet and Matisse, blending innocence with sophistication to create dreamlike, vivid worlds.
The exhibition features 26 works that invite viewers to rediscover beauty through Barone’s lens of joy, tenderness, and hope. “It’s an incredible show,” Barone shared, describing the collection as an act of artistic optimism.
Barone’s illustrious career includes prestigious awards, such as the Audience Award at the BCM Gallery in Barcelona, where she was also an honoured guest artist. She regularly participates in esteemed art salons like the Salon Comparaisons and Salon d’Automne in Paris. Her works are part of private collections worldwide and are displayed in institutions such as the International Museum of Naïve Art in Vicq, France, and the Magog Museum of Naïve Art in Quebec, Canada.
The exhibition promises to be a highlight of Fuengirola’s cultural calendar this summer, offering a celebration of Barone’s singular vision. Casa de Cultura is on Avenida Juan Gómez Juanito, 12, Fuengirola. Entry is free. Opening times are 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 11pm. Entry is free.
