Sophia describes her painting as a “more modern and colourful” version of Lowry’s depictions of working class life around north-west England.
Sophia added: “His art inspires me to see beauty in everyday life.”
The co-founder of the competition, Alison Copley, called Sophia “a very worthy winner” because her work was filled with “bold colours and intricate detail”.
Mrs Copley added that she admired Sophia’s approach of “painting life as she saw around her, just as LS Lowry did”.
