Townsville’s own country music sensation, Josie, has released her much-awaited new single, “Life On The Flip Side,” following the success of her 2023 hit “Freight Man,” which took the scene by storm.
Josie’s 2023 hit single, ‘Freight Man,’ has amassed nearly half a million plays on Spotify after gaining popularity on social media platforms such as TikTok. Her most recent release, ‘Life On The Flip Side, ‘ draws on similar themes.
“It’s telling the story of my life on the road from a different angle to Freight Man, touching on the fact it wasn’t exactly something kids in the schoolyard thought was cool right away,” Josie said.
“Having been into many different stations and remote places across the travels in the truck, it
truly opened my eyes to their lifestyle, the work that went into living that life, and how tough it really can be out there.”
Co-written with fellow Townsville musician Ben Penna, Josie said the whole creative process, from the lyrics to the filming of the music video at Reid River Export Depot, was a trip down memory lane.
“I was so stoked we could film in a location that felt so real and authentic,” she said.
“Seeing the work being carried out through the day … just felt so special and full circle to
be standing there all done up filming a music video for my own song about living that life”.
Josie is continually making waves in the Australian country music scene with previous singles such as ‘Our Place’ reaching number 39 on the Country Town Hot 50 charts and sharing a stage with artists such as Brad Cox, Wade Forster and Troy Cassar-Daley.
