Fields of Marks tells the life story of Milan Ivanič, and was launched at a special event at the Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa on Windermere.

The book was written by his wife of more than 50 years, Roz Ivanič, and weaves together their shared life and Milan’s artistic process.

Simon Berry of English Lakes Hotels Resorts and Venues said: “Fields of Marks is a real collector’s item for art enthusiasts, especially those keen to support fine art and artists in the North West.

“With Roz’s book being published during Milan’s gallery exhibition at Low Wood Bay, it was perfect timing for us to host the launch and celebrate their success.”

Every page of the biography is brought to life with Milan’s paintings, drawings, and prints.

Hosted by English Lakes Hotels Resorts and Venues in partnership with Lancaster-based Gavagan Art, the exhibition, titled Capturing the Northern Landscape, is on display at the resort’s Art in the Atrium gallery until the new year.

Mary Gavagan of Gavagan Art said: “This is a pathbreaking biography of a great talent, a first-hand account of one painter’s passion for capturing the world around him.

“It also tells the heart-warming story of Milan’s decision to settle in England and marry Roz, and how he went on to make a name for himself as a freelance artist here.”

The biography traces Milan’s artistic journey beginning in the 1950s in the Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia.

It follows his decision to leave his home country in 1970 to start a new life with Roz.

Before turning to biography, Roz Ivanič had a distinguished career in education.

She worked in secondary, further, and higher education, including time in the Linguistics Department at Lancaster University.

Her previous publications explored identity in academic writing and everyday literacies as resources for learning.

Fields of Marks is available for purchase at a reduced price at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa during Milan’s current exhibition.
