Children have showcased their artistic talent participating in the Second National Children’s Painting Exhibition under way at the Sheikh Russel Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital.
The seven-day exhibition is featuring paintings depicting War of Independence, Language Movement, scenic beauty of Bangladesh, still life, seasons of the country, festivals, traditions, schools, climate change and others.
The exhibition is featuring 100 selected paintings created using different mediums, including watercolour, acrylic, charcoal, pastel and mixed media. About 4576 artworks were submitted to the exhibition.
Renowned artists, including Rafiqun Nabi, Syed Abul Barak Alvi, Farida Zaman, Nisar Hossain, Mini Karim, Zahid Mustafa, Abhijit Chowdhury, Shahid Ahmed Mithu and Zahidur Rahman Khan, who were members of the jury board, selected artworks for exhibition and award-winning artworks.
The children participated in the exhibition divided into three age groups, including ‘Ka’ group, from pre-primary to class four; ‘Kha’ group, from class five to seven; and ‘Ga’ group, from class eight to ten.
In each group, five children received Best Award.
Maisha Jaman, Pushpita Sarkar, Umaija Parvez Aida, Meherima Rahman Ilmi and Abrar Taque received Best Award in ‘Ka’ group; Syeda Sara Tabassum, Eti Rani Talukdar, Bihan Kumar Saha, Tahiyat Islam and Sukonna Saha received Best Award in ‘Kha’ group; and Abdullah Al Jihad, Aritra Sutradahr, Priyanka Saha, Bushra Anika Ferdous and Ayontika Dattu received award in ‘Ga’ group.
The exhibition will end on Wednesday.
