An image showing a child sleeping between two graves is is going viral on social media. The users who shared the image claim that the child sleeps between the graves of his parents in the war-torn Gaza.

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search, whose results revealed that the image had been uploaded to the internet several years ago. An Instagram post on the official account of Aziz Alotaibi — a Saudi Arabian photographer shared on 7 January 2014. In the comment section of the post, the photographer has clarified that “it’s a fake picture talking about the orphan.
In further search, we came across an interview of Aziz with journalist Harald Doornbos. In the interview, he clarifies that, he had an idea for an art project about orphanhood and drove with his nephew to Yanbu, Saudi Arabia where Alotaibi built the rubble piles himself to resemble graves and shot the pictures.
“Every artist has ideas in his head,” Doornbos quoted Alotaibi explaining. “So, I had the idea to make a project whereby I show in pictures how the love of a child for his parents is irreplaceable. This love cannot be substituted by anything or anybody else, even if the parents are dead.”
Taking account of these evidences we can understand that the Image of child sleeping between graves is an old art project. It is unrelated to the current Israel-Palestine conflict.
