Set up in 1970, Art Basel is a privately-owned, for-profit international art fair staged annually in Basel (Switzerland), Miami Beach (USA), Hong Kong (China) and Paris (France). The size of global art market was estimated at $65 billion at the end of December 2023, by Art Basel. The value of art sales had slowed down by 4% in 2023, making it the first fall in three years.
