Can President Donald Trump draw?

In a July 17 post on Truth Social — responding to a Wall Street Journal story that said he wrote a letter to the late Jeffrey Epstein for his 50th birthday that included a nude drawing — Trump wrote: “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures.”

Trump called the letter a “FAKE” in a social media post and said the story is “false, malicious, and defamatory.” He is threatening to sue the newspaper.

Shortly afterward, Trump announced in another social media post that he is directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce more Epstein documents amid public clamor for the records.

While Trump says he doesn’t draw pictures, 20 years ago, he drew a picture of the New York City skyline for a charity auction.

Below is a Palm Beach Daily News story from Monday, July 31, 2017:

Donald Trump is an artist. Who knew? Or at least he was one briefly in 2005 when he dashed off a sketch of the Manhattan skyline with Trump Tower in the middle for a charity auction promoting literacy.

He drew the ink sketch on a large envelope and signed it Donald J. Trump in gold marker. The drawing sold for $29,184 Thursday at Nate D. Sanders Auctions, a Los Angeles auction house specializing in autographs and memorabilia.

The work was consigned by the winner of the 2005 auction, artnet.com said. The piece drew 11 bids, starting at $9,000, before selling to an undisclosed buyer.

Trump’s sketch has drummed up “five times” the interest the auction house’s sales typically generate, a representative of the firm told artnet. Such prices usually are achieved only by autographs by the founding fathers or Abraham Lincoln, auction house founder Nate Sanders told The New York Times.

“It’s an extremely high price, and it’s pretty much unprecedented for a modern president,” he said. “Trump has that ‘wow’ factor.”

Apparently, there are a couple more versions of the drawing out there. Owners might want to hang on to them in case Trump’s ‘wow factor’ increases.
