The Adams County Arts Council, 125 South Washington Street, Gettysburg, will feature collections of artworks created by Kim Robinson, Gabe Clark and Emily Clark, and ACAC summer camp artwork curated by Sydney Beard, at the center during the month of July. A First Friday opening reception is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 5-7:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
Emily Clarke
Emily Clarke has enjoyed photography since taking a class in high school. She did her first photo project as an adult in 2013, posting daily photos under the title Looking Up. It lifted her spirits and changed her perspective for the long term, and many of her photos are still focused on the sky. She’s had photos in the Adams County Arts Council juried art show and has one in this year’s Art Association of Harrisburg’s annual juried show. This is her first exhibit at the Arts Education Center.
Gabe Clarke
Gabe Clarke is a spray paint artist from Adams County, Pennsylvania. Educated at York College of Pennsylvania, Gabe graduated in May of 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in fine art and a primary focus in painting. While spray paint was not a medium taught in his college courses, Gabe set out to apply the methods and design concepts he had learned to this new medium. Learning through trial and error, Gabe applied the use of spray paint to a traditional subject matter of landscape. Since graduating in 2018, Gabe has previously participated in eight different juried or selected exhibitions as well as four solo exhibits. He has also had work displayed in both downtown York and Lancaster.
Kim Robinson
Exemplars, a collection of art created by Adams County native Kim Robinson features artwork painted alongside her students as a learning tool. Kim recently retired after thirty-four years as an Art educator teaching students in grades Pre-K through 12th. The collection of work reflects a variety of media and subjects that have been re-worked or inspired by the students that she taught and the places she visited. Recent works show her love of color, textures and nature. This collection is meant to both oppose and discredit what Kim’s college drawing professor declared on her first day of class, “Those who can’t do art – teach.” While her preferred medium is paint, you will find a variety of art including Intuitive paintings, Non-objective art and works created as part of History Meets the Arts events.
