Ruben Baghdasaryan’s paintings are the perfect ode to the male form

Just in time for the season, artist Ruben Baghdasaryan is exploring the beauty and vulnerability of the nude male form in a series of painting that make us want to head to the lakeside and take a dip with our summer fling.

“I’ve been working on a series on paper, exploring male figures and beauty,” the artist, whose work is featured in New York City’s Atamian Hovsepian Curatorial Practice, said in a statement. “This work is a big part of my inspiration and creative process. Each piece involves finding the right composition and color palette, aiming to capture something unique and meaningful.”

“I want people to feel free, fearless, and bold when they look at my work,” Baghdasaryan continued. “My goal is to inspire others to live their lives without regrets and to always stay curious. Through my art, I hope to encourage a sense of freedom and the courage to embrace life fully.”

Established in 2022, the Atamian Hovsepian Curatorial Practice is a “project-based curatorial initiative” that “invests in long-term collaborations with artists, nurturing and developing rigorous and experimental practices in order to bring vital new voices to the public.”

“We are committed to affirming, developing, and supporting the many underrepresented voices creating outstanding art,” the practice’s mission statement reads. “This includes women, LGBTQ+, and artists of color, practices whose methods, forms, and expressions have been unrecognized or marginalized. We also recognize the urgency to develop new audiences for artistic engagement.”
