FREMONT ― Scott Hagan, aka The Barn Artist, spent time painting a new mural on a barn owned by David and Ingrid Miarer west of Fremont.
Hagan, of Jerusalem, Ohio, has been painting murals for more than 26 years. The 250 Anniversary Barn Mural is the seventh addition to the Sandusky County Historic Barn Mural Trail.
Thornbury designed five murals for barns in county
David Thornbury, marketing director for the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau, designed the new mural, located at 3888 W. State St., along with five of the other six in the county.
Hagan’s next scheduled project is the painting of a “Welcome to Gibsonburg” mural on the west side of the Gibsonburg Police Department building, 214 W. Madison.

Visitor bureau working with America 250 on barn project
The visitors bureau announced the newest project for the America 250 Barn Mural earlier this week.
The decision to feature an America 250-themed mural in Northwest Ohio underscores the significance of the region in commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026. Spearheaded by Todd Kleismit, executive director of the America 250-Ohio Commission, the initiative aims to engage communities across the nation in a series of events, celebrations, and commemorative projects.
“We are honored to be selected as the site for this landmark mural,” Thornbury said. “This project not only celebrates our nation’s legacy but also highlights the beauty and charm of our rural landscape.”
