Statesboro native George Lewis is transforming houses into masterpieces, one watercolor brushstroke at a time. His unique service offers custom paintings of homes, capturing not just their likeness, but their story, their beauty, and the light around them.
George Lewis is a Statesboro native who has developed his talent and passion for art into a unique – and beautiful – service. Lewis uses watercolor to create detailed, original custom paintings of homes and special buildings. His work ranges from modern to historic homes, each one depicted as it is in that moment to capture a memory in time.
Lewis graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design but discovered his passion for watercolor painting after graduation, drawing inspiration from masters like Thomas W. Schaller, and Vladislav Yeliseyev.

“I use watercolor as a tool to express my thoughts and emotions,” Lewis says. “One of watercolor’s great qualities is seeing the water and paint co-mingle together, almost dancing on the paper.”
His architectural illustrations capture not only the look of a building but also the feel of it. He employs light and shadow to create atmospheric depth in his work, emphasizing the interplay of color to add richness and distinction.

“I believe that a hand drawn and traditional painting portrays more emotion and connection to the viewer than anything a computer generated or photograph can ever do,” Lewis says, noting that his emphasis on the light and shadows surrounding the buildings he depicts are an important element of his work.
While each custom watercolor painting of a home carries its own timeline based on the size and level of detail, each brings Lewis’s artistic expertise and eye. The custom works start around $500 and at a size of 12”x18”, and the completion time is usually a few weeks.

“I have always been deeply drawn to architecture, to which the majority of my work is centered, and the unlimited environments around it,” Lewis said. “Whether that be an urban setting or a far off destination, there is always a story to tell and experiences to take in.”
Lewis is Georgia-based and holds a BFA in Interior Architecture. His work has been published in both a children’s book and Traditional Home Magazine.
