Fourth Resonance at GAM: drawing and paper in dialogue

The Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GAM) in Turin presents Fourth Resonance, a series that highlights drawing and paper as practices of artistic research, experimentation and memory. The program brings together four projects conceived in relation to the museum’s collections, outlining a route from the 20th century to contemporary practices, including site-specific interventions and photographic sections.

Exhibition program

  • Another Twentieth Century. Works on paper from the GAM collections (curated by Fabio Cafagna and Elena Volpato): an organized overview of over six hundred works on paper, including drawings, watercolours, prints and paintings on paper.
  • Today is a century – Vincenzo Agnetti (curated by Chiara Bertola and Virginia Lupo): an exhibition marking the centenary of Agnetti’s birth, exploring his experimental use of photography.
  • Lisetta Carmi. Eroticism and authoritarianism at Staglieno (curated by Elena Volpato): a group of photographs from the 1960s–1970s presented in relation to sculptural works in the collection.
  • The Intruder. Pesce Khete (curated by Fabio Cafagna and Elena Volpato): site-specific interventions creating unexpected juxtapositions with the museum’s 20th-century holdings, with intensive use of paper as a material and compositional element.

Why visit

Fourth Resonance reveals the creative process in its most intimate dimension: paper becomes a laboratory where drawing shows immediate qualities and materials narrate artist choices. The selection documents stylistic developments from early 20th century to the avant-gardes of the 1990s, with specific sections highlighting photography as a research and documentary medium.
