Art or football for Danny as mayor hails Dacorum Young Artists after 2026 competition

Will Danny give up his beloved football for Art?

The Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Catherine McArevey, the Mayor of Dacorum presented awards and prizes to the winners of Dacorum Young Artists 2026 at Ashlyns School Hall on Saturday 2nd May

Best Overall 1st was Danny Cutts of Haywood Grove, 2nd was Polina Druzhbina of Berkhamsted Prep and 3rd was Arda Asir of Lockers Park.

Danny, who didn’t stop grinning from ear to ear, said, “I’ve never won anything before.”

The competition, which is open to Year 4 & 5 primary and special school students in Dacorum Borough, featured work from 22 schools.

The judges were Mary Casserley, a leading local artist, Joanna Bryant, gallery owner and Bex Wells, a local craft designer.

The competition is sponsored each year by the Rotary Clubs of Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead, The Arts Society Gade Valley and Ashridge DFAS. The competition is also supported by The Arts Society, the country’s leading arts education charity.

All 22 Best in School entries will go on to be exhibited at Hemel Hempstead Library from 8th May to 8th June.
