BALA CYNWYD, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — 82-year-old Linda Dubin Garfield always wanted to be an artist since she was a kid. But when it was time to choose a career path in college, her parents said no.

Fast forward, she enjoyed nearly four decades working with students as a guidance counselor. And then it was finally time to become a professional artist.

20 years ago, she retired and started working with colorful prints and other mixed media.

But she wanted her art to do more than hang on a wall.

She created an organization called ‘Art Sisters,’ in which various women donate their art and participate in fundraising events for charitable purposes.

Dubin Garfield raises money on her birthday annually for charitable causes. Her recent art gallery and fundraising event benefitted the Old City Jewish Art Center, which is dear to her heart and heritage.

She was able to raise $2,000.

Dubin Garfield has two upcoming shows in the month of October. To learn more, visit her website.
