Open to architects, designers and students, the competition celebrates the art and skill of architectural drawing in all its forms, reflecting the evolving nature of architectural representation and the growing influence of AI tools and techniques.
Supporters include Make Architects, Sir John Soane’s Museum and the World Architecture Festival. The winners and shortlisted entries will be exhibited at Sir John Soane’s Museum in London in early 2026, with selected winners also showcased at the World Architecture Festival 2025 in Miami.
According to the brief: ‘In recognition of the evolving nature of architectural drawing, including the growing influence of AI tools and techniques, this year’s awards will be judged on an overall basis rather than in category silos. There will be multiple winners and a special prize for hand-drawing to mark the initial inspiration for the awards.
‘By entering you have the chance to have your work displayed at the world-renowned Sir John Soane’s Museum in early 2026. Plus, winners will gain international recognition at the World Architecture Festival 2025 in Miami.’
The Architecture Drawing Prize was established in 2017 and is now in its eighth edition following a two-year hiatus. Entries are judged on technical skill, success in communicating a design idea, originality, quality of drawing, and the extent to which the drawing makes a proposition about architecture, rather than simply recording it.
Recent overall winners include Fitzroy Food Institute by Samuel Wen and Michael Ren – a hybrid hand-drawn and digital artwork; Fluid Strada: Flood-responsive landscape performance by Dafni Filippa – a hybrid drawing combining multiple rendering techniques; and City in a box: paradox memories by Anton Markus Pasing, praised for its depth, symmetry and perspective.
This year’s judging panel features Ken Shuttleworth, founder of Make Architects; Ben Langlands and Nikki Bell, acclaimed artists; Lily Jencks, founder of Lily Jencks Studio; and Narinder Sagoo, head of design communications at Foster + Partners.
