PORT LUDLOW — The Port Ludlow Art League will host a reception for JoAnna Caro from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The reception will begin in the lobby of Sound Community Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, then move to the league’s adjacent gallery at 5 p.m.

Caro began exploring several different arts media after retirement before settling upon abstract acrylic paintings.

“The more you move away from reality and the closer you get to total abstraction, the more you will create your own artistic sensibility,” Caro said. “The dismissing of details and embracing of unhindered use of color, light, line and form is difficult, but the reward of these visual elements becomes a joyful expression.”

Sheryl Goldsberry has created shattered glass pendant necklaces in celebration of women who shattered the glass ceiling. Her latest creations feature a variety of colored glass.

Goldsberry’s handmade necklaces serve as a statement and acknowledgement of achievement for all women.

Caro’s acrylic paintings and Goldsberry’s necklaces
will be on display in the gallery from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays throughout August.
