Open Up Sheffield 2024 offers exciting opportunities to local artists and ways for people to get involved in the Steel City’s exciting art scene.

Events were held over last weekend including the very first open gallery at the Art House where they shared the clay works of the pottery wellbeing group.

James Green, artist and printmaker, says: “If you’re an artist, try and take part, it’s a great and inexpensive way of introducing people to your work. If you’re interested in art then delve in, make the most of the talent in the city.”

The event allows artists to showcase their work but, unlike traditional open gallery events, it takes the public into the studio environment the art was created in.

Its unique style means that people become aware of artists both from and outside established studio complexes.

Kieran Flynn, artist at Kelham Island Art Collective (KIAC) and one of the 69 artists that are a part of Open Up, says: “Just come along, you might be inspired to do some of your own art. The world needs more art”
