Rocky Mountain National Park artist to host workshop Thursday – Loveland Reporter-Herald

Six different artists will each serve a two-week residency at Rocky Mountain National Park in 2024. The first will hold a public program Thursday.

The national park and the Rocky Mountain Conservancy announced the 2023 Artists-in-Residence this week. Each artist will host at least two programs open to visitors of all ages while creating art inspired by the national park.

The first for this summer is Claudia Borfiga, a visual artist originally from the UK  but now living in Denver. She works with a variety of visual mediums including paper, textiles and print and will focus on collecting photographs and drawings that she will later turn into prints.

Her first public program, “Print-a-Card” will be Thursday at the Fall River Visitor Center, with another on June 20. Participants can drop in between noon and 2 p.m. to learn how to hand pull a screen print. All supplies are provided and participants will make a completed print.

Other artists who will serve a residency are: Susan Mockler, a poet; Garrison Gerard, a composer; Kait Evensen, an embroidery and technical illustration artist; Joe Norman, a sculptor; and Jeremy Shellhorn, a designer/illustrator.

Since 1984, Rocky Mountain National Park has hosted more than 200 artists with all different specialties as part of the program, which is supported by the Rocky Mountain Conservancy.
