ART EXHIBITION AND WORKSHOP: Artist Isabelle Crisp at work in the studios at Two Queens
Leicester-based gallery and studios Two Queens is throwing wide the doors to its artist workspaces this weekend, for a special open studios event. The Cultural Quarter-based organisation provides space for over 45 artists across two floors of its building, which spans Queen Street and Southampton Street in the city.
Members of the public can explore the studios and meet artists who are based there on Saturday, July 6, from 12 to 5pm. Residents include painters, sculptors, ceramicists and printmakers, many of whom will also be selling artworks and crafts on the day.
The gallery’s annual members exhibition ‘flock’, will also be open, bringing together eclectic works by 55 local artists. Artists taking part in this year’s exhibition include those based in Two Queens’ studios and artists based across the county. It has been curated in collaboration with De Montfort University Fine Art graduate Jagjit Kaur, an emerging artist and curator based in the city.
Visitors feeling inspired by the exhibition and open studios can also turn their hand to some art-making through a drop-in a painting workshop that will run throughout the same afternoon. All ages are welcome to take part for £5 each, with all materials provided and no booking required.
