Versatile in every sense of the word, the Tel Aviv-based DJ/Producer ensures nothing less than the most enticing of vibes, with each of his endeavours thus far, further illustrating the genius mind behind this artist to watch.
Taking over the dance scene with each of his endeavours, Omri Smadar is the epitome of an act that has been mastering his craft to the utmost of perfection, whilst his attention to detail, most certainly helps him stand out from all the rest. Ensuring nothing less than the most enticing of vibes, the Tel Aviv-based DJ/Producer maintains the most versatile of natures, with his style of play elevated through a wide variation of genres, including anything from Dancehall and Dub, to House and Disco, and even Psychedelic Indie Dance to Middle Eastern Sounds. The ultimate of musical fusions, Smadar leaves no doubt to the imagination, whilst his unique approach towards music production, has led to the creation of the most infectious of sound(s), and in turn, fans alike embark on a musical journey that quite like it has yet to be seen; being that through the music in itself, or through live performances that only further enhance the presence of this artist to watch.
Kick-starting his journey within the dance scene from the youngest of ages, Smadar showcased the undeniable musical prowess that he possesses from the offset, and through the production of his very first album at the age of seventeen. Written, produced and self-released, Smadar had set his sights on nothing less than global dominance, and in turn, paved his own path towards a successful career, through hard work, commitment and passion for one’s craft. Embarking on a musical journey like no other, Smadar toured the world alongside Caribbean-fused sound system, Abuya Sound, making for an experience that would only further inspire him into creating a lasting legacy of his own, but first, through finding his own purpose and the sound(s) that have now shaped his career within our community. Returning to his homeland in 2015, on a mission to explore the various sounds of underground music, Smadar went onto further developing his style of play, which in fact then led to the release of his first ever vinyl single, ‘Muzika Salim,’ a track that perfectly captures the essence of Middle Eastern sounds and electronic music, in a truly sensational fusion of both worlds.
Showing no signs of slowing down, Smadar continued to elevate his status through each musical endeavour, leading to him amassing millions of streams, release under a vast array of well-renowned music labels, as well as creating his own label, ‘Ganuz Records,’ and of course, perform sold out shows all around Israel, as well as taking over stages worldwide, including iconic venues such as Fabric in London and Rex in Paris. Highly-regarded by fellow peers within the scene, as well as creating a huge fanbase back in his homeland, Smadar gained even further recognition in his homeland through his ‘Collage: An Electronic Tribute to Timeless Israeli Music’ album, where the body of work included remixes of classic Israeli songs, ranging from New Wave 80s to Yemenite disco, and to Alternative Rock. Truly immersive in every sense of the word, Smadar embraced his success with even further success, releasing EPs that left a mark within the dance scene, and of course, reached the very top of the charts on numerous occasions, cementing him amongst the elite acts within the industry.
Fast-forward to now, Smadar is further advocating his status as one of the dance scenes most versatile of acts, with the man of the moment becoming a part of a band, with the prime goal of showcasing his love for music in a manner that truly scintillates each and every crowd. Remarkable in every sense of the word, Smadar is the true embodiment of pure love and passion towards one’s craft, and through each his of endeavours within the dance scene, he has most certainly left a lasting impact, and in fact, continues and will continue to do so for years and years to come. Showcasing his pride for his country, and in fact unifying electronic music with elements of tradition and nostalgia by bringing his unique musical POV to the Annual Piano Festival at the Tel Aviv Museum, as well as delivering shows alongside the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, with his recent live shows alongside a choir acted as the perfect platform to showcase his upcoming release ‘Lose Your Soul‘ alongside Jenia Tarsol receiving the most positive of feedbacks, making of course his forthcoming album even more highly-anticipated, and in turn also cementing himself as a legendary act in his homeland, and not only.
