‘Wool Is My Bread’, featuring a series of photographs taken in Kendal over a period of 15 years by artist Trevor Batchelor, will open at the Brewery Arts Centre on September 19.
The title of the exhibition is taken from Kendal’s Latin motto – Pannus Mihi Panis.
Mr Batchelor said: “Directly influenced by my personal way of looking at life and scenes, this selection of images can be described as being mildly comic, ironic, abstract, mundane and quite possibly absurd. But, at least as far as I am concerned, they are not boring. Different maybe, but not boring.”
The exhibition will be open to the public until Saturday, November 1.
‘Wool is my Bread’ records the mundane, everyday life of the town through a series of abstract images.
Pannus Mihi Panis translates as Wool is my Bread, a reference to Kendal’s historic link to the wool trade.

Mr Batchelor said he likes to make viewers of is images stop and think, and that making his pieces slightly incomprehensible this provides a ‘woolly’ quality.
“This woolliness feeds my appetite to create,” he said. “My creations satisfy this appetite, and so, in many respects, these have become my bread.”
