CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — The fourth annual Cville Arts Festival took place this past weekend, bringing in artists from around the area and even one from far away.
“The whole purpose of this event is to bring community, creativity, inclusivity, and diversity together,” said Ewa Harr, the executive director of the IX Art Park Foundation.
She says more than 50 artists featured their pieces in the fourth annual Cville Arts Festival.
While most of the art was based locally, one special exhibit brought in an artist from Europe.
“She is a Hungarian artist visiting Charlottesville. She set up a display on our stage and they are featuring her impressions of Charlottesville,” Harr said.
Zsu Szabo has been alternating from working a corporate job for a year and then taking a few years to travel around the world and focus on her art.
“I have been here in Charlottesville for two months now. And, as a fine artist, what I do, my abstract art is always reflecting on my surroundings,” Szabo said.
And she says even with being on the go, Charlottesville has made her feel at home.
“I got an invitation here, so I wasn’t choosing Charlottesville, Charlottesville chose me. I got the invitation and have been living here for months and I’m just loving this place and the people here,” Szabo said.
Her featured pieces were inspired by the University of Virginia, Monticello, the Downtown Mall and Ivy Creek.
