All About Ashley Olsen’s Husband, Artist Louis Eisner

Ashley Olsen and her husband, Louis Eisner, are one of the most private couples in Hollywood. 

The actress-turned-designer—who rose to fame alongside her twin, Mary-Kate Olsen, in the late ‘90s—prefers to live out of the spotlight. However, she and Eisner have made a few very rare public appearances over the years. Their latest one came at the YES Scholars 25th Anniversary Gala, held September 4 in Los Angeles. 

Their gala appearance (where Olsen wore The Row, of course) marked the first time in four years that Olsen and Eisner stepped out together on a red carpet. It’s also their first joint red carpet since secretly welcoming their son, Otto, in 2023.

While Olsen and Eisner have been romantically linked since 2017, they’ve never publicly commented on their relationship. Their private wedding on December 28, 2022 “was a small affair,” a source told People. The source added that both of Olsen’s famous sisters, Mary-Kate and Elizabeth Olsen, were in attendance at her big day (Olsen also has an older brother and two younger half-siblings). “For them, it was a perfect celebration. They never wanted a huge wedding.”

Back in 2019 when the Olsen twins turned 33, Eisner and Mary-Kate’s then-husband, Olivier Sarkozy, were photographed celebrating the joint birthday with their partners in New York City. The sisters wore matching tiaras for the low-key night out, which included stops at the Sherry-Netherland Hotel and Greek restaurant Milos, per an E! News report.

He comes from a creative family.

Even if you haven’t heard of Eisner before, his mother Lisa Eisner might ring a bell. Lisa has many credits to her name, including former West Coast editor of American Vogue, acclaimed documentary photographer, and art book publisher, but she’s perhaps best known as a jewelry designer. 

Her eponymous line of jewelry is an A-list favorite, worn by the likes of Ayo Edebiri, Jennifer Aniston (in her 2021 InStyle cover story), Julia Roberts, and Gwyneth Paltrow. In March 2024, the longtime L.A. resident revealed a collaboration with The Row co-founders Mary-Kate and Ashley, channeling their minimalist aesthetic into a collection of black jade earrings, rings, and more.

“There is something about black jade that is really beautiful on your skin,” Lisa told Vanity Fair ahead of the collaboration’s debut. “It not only looks so dramatic, but it feels like cashmere.”

Lisa is married to entertainment lawyer and mogul Eric Eisner—aka Olsen’s father-in-law. The former David Geffen Company president runs the nonprofit YES Scholars, which he founded in 1999. YES Scholars helps academically gifted children from low-income communities succeed in high school and college by offering resources and support. Olsen and her husband attended the nonprofit’s annual gala in 2021 and 2025.

He’s a visual artist based in Los Angeles.

Eisner, 37, is a visual artist. According to his professional bio, he graduated with a B.A. in Art History from Columbia University in 2010. His work has appeared in exhibitions around the world, including at Mexico City’s Peana gallery, the Basel Social Club, and the Fitzpatrick Gallery in Paris.

During and after college, Eisner belonged to The Still House Group, an organization run by artists and based in Brooklyn. In 2014, Observer described the former collective, founded in 2007 as an online platform for young artists to show their work, as “a multimillion-dollar institution more profitable than many New York galleries.”

While not a frequent poster on social media, Eisner occasionally shares pictures of his work to his Instagram account. 

He posted Olsen to his Instagram Story in July 2021.

Without offering any context, Eisner dropped a super-rare snap of his future wife to his Instagram Stories in July 2021. The artist’s picture shows Olsen holding a drink in one hand and a machete in the other as she casually strolls through a woodsy area, as People reported.

The next photo in his Story showed himself standing on a log balanced precariously over a murky pond. Since then, Eisner hasn’t shared any other pictures of his wife or their son to his public social media accounts.

He and Olsen have only done two red carpets together.

Eisner and The Row co-founder made their red carpet debut a few months after he shared the initial snapshot of Olsen to his Instagram Story. The pair attended his father’s YES Scholars 20th Anniversary Celebration together in September 2021, taking a few rare photos on the red carpet.

Four years later, they went to the same event and were again photographed side-by-side—this time, as spouses and parents. A few pictures from the 2025 gala show Olsen and Eisner posing with his mother, Lisa, who donned an all-white ensemble for the occasion.

They wed in 2022 and welcomed their first child in 2023.

Not much is known about the couple’s secret wedding, which happened shortly after Christmas Day in 2022. People confirmed the marriage in January 2023, with a source telling the outlet they wed in front of around 50 of their friends and family at a Bel-Air home.

The duo first sparked engagement rumors back in 2019, when Olsen was seen wearing a dark band on her left ring finger as she and Eisner attended a showing of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It’s unclear if they were actually engaged at the time.

Olsen and Eisner became parents in 2023, welcoming a son named Otto. Her Full House co-star John Stamos congratulated the couple a few days after news broke of Otto’s birth. In an August 2023 Instagram post, he wrote that watching Olsen and her sister “grow into the incredibly bright and remarkable women they are today has been one of the greatest joys of my life.”
