A young Cuban painter has gifted former U.S. President Donald Trump a painting that depicts his victory gesture after surviving an attack during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last July.

Enrique Tur, the young artist’s name, presented this gift to the former president during a Trump campaign event at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium of the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina, on Wednesday, August 14.

“I want to thank God, President Trump for this opportunity that means a lot to me, my family, and friends for believing in my art. It was a 15-hour drive across this beautiful country, and the goal has been accomplished,” Tur wrote on his social media.

The young artist drove from Dallas, Texas, where he resides, to Asheville with the sole purpose of delivering his gift.

Niover Licea highlighted the painter’s act on his Instagram profile, mentioning that Tur is originally from Santiago de Cuba and graduated from the School of Art Instructors in that city.

Trump himself received the painting from the young artist and, surprised, told him that he would take it with him, noting that although he has been gifted other allegorical paintings, none were like this one.

The painting is titled “Attempt Thwarted” and is an oil on canvas measuring 30×44 inches, Tur specified.

After the attack on July 14, former President Trump confirmed that the bullet grazed the “top part of his ear.”

“I knew immediately something was wrong as I heard several shots and instantly felt the bullet graze my skin,” Trump said in a statement.

Following the attack and his subsequent transfer to the hospital, Trump’s campaign announced that he was “doing well” and was “being checked at a local medical center.”

Various political figures immediately condemned the attack.
