A talented Penzance artist who volunteers for the RNLI has created a special painting to raise money for the charity.
Trevor Thorne, a Penlee deputy launch authority, has completed a painting of the current Penlee lifeboats, Ivan Ellen and Mollie and Ivor Dent putting to sea against the backdrop of Newlyn harbour and the old boathouse at Penlee Point.

He has worked with specialist Giclée printer Monkey Puzzle Repro Art at Porthtowan and Penlee Coxswain, Patch Harvey to produce limited edition prints to support fundraising for the Penlee Lifeboat.
The prints are available in two sizes and there will be a maximum of 200 produced of each.
They include the names of the present crew members and operations team at Penlee.
Every print will be co-signed by Trevor and Patch.
Trevor drew his first lifeboat for a Blue Peter poster competition as a 10-year-old boy in 1969. He received a winner’s badge for his efforts.

He said: “I wanted to produce something to recognise the RNLI’s 200th anniversary and the wonderful crew and boats we have at Penlee.
“Luckily it turned out to be one of those paintings that felt right from the moment I worked out the composition.
“The title ‘From out of the Gloom, Salvation’ came to me one day while I was painting so I quickly wrote it down to ensure I didn’t forget.”
The original painting will be exhibited at the Morvah Schoolhouse Gallery during Trevor’s latest exhibition ‘Fleeting Moments’ from May 25 to June 7 and the proceeds from its sale and his other paintings in the show will be donated to the Penlee Lifeboat.

Penlee RNLI is based in Newlyn. The volunteers crew an all-weather Severn Class Lifeboat the Ivan Ellen but currently have a relief lifeboat Volunteer Spirit while Ivan Ellen is being serviced as well as the B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat the Mollie and Ivor Dent.
