Swindon Paint Fest will showcase local artists and grassroots talent on Saturday, August 30, celebrating the town’s rich public art scene.
This year’s event will mirror past festivals, with the focal point being the creative heart of Swindon around Theatre Square and Regent Circus.
Since its inauguration in 2022, the festival has consistently celebrated public art, culture, and community interaction.
The best day for fans and residents to visit will be Saturday, August 30, when Theatre Square and Regent Circus will be bustling with activity including live mural painting, interactive workshops, food and drink stalls, body painting, and live music.
Whether attending with family or friends, everyone is invited to participate, either by picking up a pen, exploring the mural trail, or simply soaking in the colourful atmosphere.
A new feature for 2025 is the official launch of Swindon’s Mural Trail Map, which details more than 140 historical and recent murals across the town.
This self-guided trail encourages people to enjoy the art scene at their own pace, so they can truly absorb the breadth and diversity of Swindon’s street art.
The festival has also pledged to document and safeguard the town’s mural heritage, collaborating with Historic England to archive public artworks dating from 1976 to present day.
A number of murals have already been tagged onto the festival organisers’ proprietary map.
This partnership affirms the legacy of Swindon’s street art, ensuring it is cherished and maintained for future generations.
The plethora of planned activities means people can choose how to best enjoy the festival.
The main artist hub in Theatre Square will be open from 10am to 4pm, offering live painting demonstrations, exhibitions, mixed genre DJ sets from Cultiv-8, along with various artist workshops.
For lovers of role play, there will be Mongoose Table role-play games set up, along with two separate artist exhibitions and mixed media workshops in the afternoon.
For families, Creative Kids’ Day will run from 10am to 3pm in the Swindon Central Library, promising a host of fun activities such as crafts, face painting, games, and book giveaways.
The Wyvern Theatre will host a Family Fun Day from 10am to 4pm with activities including arts and crafts, more face painting, artist workshops, and character visits.
Rudi’s Bar, well-known in the town, will be transformed into the Official Artist and Party Hub for the day.
