Artists from throughout San Diego County are invited to submit artwork for a competition to select the featured artist at the annual Ramona Art, Wine & Music Festival.
The festival is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at Begent Ranch, 18528 Highland Valley Road.
The 2025 festival will feature area artisans, the wine and craft beverage industry, and local musicians. Artisans will display and sell their products, wineries and craft beverage producers will provide tastings, and musicians will perform on three stages throughout the day.
A juried Featured Artist Contest is held each year to select art for the cover of the festival’s program. The commemorative artist whose painting is selected will become the Featured Artist of the Year and receive special promotions throughout 2025-26, according to the Ramona Art, Wine & Music Festival committee.
The winning artist will have their artwork prominently displayed on the cover of the official festival program, receive promotion on the home page of the festival website and membership in the website’s “Artist Hall of Fame,” and be offered free booth space at the festival valued at $60, special signage as a featured artist, and two free festival tickets.
The original winning art will be displayed at a prominent location and auctioned at the festival. A limited number of signed and numbered reprints will be available for purchase.
For information on how to apply for an entry in this year’s Featured Artist Contest, visit RamonaArtAndWineFest.net/contest-form/. The deadline for entries is Thursday, July 31.
Festival organizers have also selected artists to create wine barrel art and upcycled furniture art. The finished usable artwork will be auctioned at the festival.
The selected artists and their final products include Johnathan Martinez, wine barrel; Lori Sutherland, gun safe; Jen Crenshaw, room divider; Danni Pearson, embellished planter; and Lyn Feudner, embellished planter.
Artist booth spaces are still available for the festival. An application to exhibit and sell art as a booth artist is available online at RamonaArtAndWineFest.net/artisans-form/. All participating art must be original and will be juried. Resale items are not allowed.
All proceeds from the event support the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project. The nonprofit has successfully organized the installation of 31 murals and 17 painted utility boxes in Ramona.
