This weekend, EDEN Gallery Aspen debuts The Art of Observation exhibition, which showcases various ways artists capture the essence of observing nature, art, society, dreams, and other surroundings. The exhibition invites people to awaken their senses and renew their appreciation of surrounding beauty by looking deeper and observing intentionally. It features Eduardo Kobra, Gal Yosef, Daniel Gastaud, Joseph, and Véronique Guerrieri.
EDEN Gallery’s annual international gala season kicks off in Aspen and then continues throughout its additional locations in Dubai, London, Miami, New York, Las Vegas, Greece, Maldives, and Tel Aviv.
“Aspen is a sanctuary for many who seek inspiration in the natural world,” said Ron Klimovsky, chief marketing officer of EDEN Gallery. “It is the perfect destination for us to begin our series of inspiring global galas, which allow us to showcase some of the greatest artists of our time. This exhibition in particular celebrates the meticulous, meditative, and influential act of truly seeing the world around us.”
It all launches with a by-invitation-only gala Friday, with Kobra painting a live mural, DJ performances, and the creating of a collective artwork. Saturday is open to the public and includes live music and refreshments. Most of the artists will attend the openings.
Kobra will highlight how he transforms people and places into dynamic visual experiences. The Brazilian-artist’s large-scale murals provide a unique perspective on society and nature, said Guy Martinovsky, on behalf of EDEN Gallery owner Cathia Klimovsky.
Gastaud explores interplays between natural forms and human influence in a manner that asks viewers to reconsider their relationship with the environment. He showcases several new pieces that the public has never seen.
Special guest Yosef reimagines favorite cartoon characters through his three-dimensional digital art. His latest pieces portray a darker, avant-garde version of the cartoon universe.
“He is one of the most famous examples of 3-D art,” she said. “He uses his capacity of making 3-D art to create emotion.”
Parisian-born Joseph highlights the subtleties of the human condition and the natural world through delicate brushstrokes and harmonious colors. Influenced by the political and social upheavals of the 1970s, he makes statements through his sophisticated metal artwork.
French artist Guerrieri employs a variety of media, from painting and drawing to resin sculptures, to reveal unseen layers of reality. She explores themes of memory, dreams, and dynamics within society.’
Klimovsky opened her first gallery in New York City in 1997 and opened the Aspen location in 2020 after living in the town for a year to get the feel of it.
“The direction of the gallery is happy, colorful, and positive. It’s a balance of emotion and quality,” Martinovsky said. “We like art that, in addition to being an inspiration, is important worldwide.”
