The popular showcase of local artists’ varied work takes place over the third weekend of May, writes Kinga Plata
This year’s Crouch End Art Trail will see over 60 local artists showcase their work in their homes, in art galleries, shops and even restaurants and churches.
For the 19th time, Crouch End Open Studios (CEOS) is inviting N8 residents and art lovers across London to participate in the art trail during the third weekend in May.
With both award-winning and emerging artists showcasing their latest works, there will be something for everyone. The more than 60 artists create different kinds of art from paintings, photography and drawings, to sculptures, ceramics, glass and mixed media.
Alongside the anchor location at Original Gallery, on the upper floor of Hornsey Library, artwork will also be showcased in the participating artists’ private homes as well as in local cafes, restaurants, a cinema and even a church, all within walking distance of Crouch End Clock Tower.
Visitors are not only invited to admire the showcased art but also to engage with the artists and other art lovers as well as to browse and purchase the works of art as they are said to be priced from less than £100 to several thousand pounds.
Artists participating in this year’s event include award-winning watercolourist Mark Entwisle; hyperrealist pencil drawer Jamie Eade; sculptor and landscape artist Andrea Kim Valdez; mixed-media landscape painter and sculptor Helen Brough; and mixed media sculptor, Julia Clarke.
Exciting new entrants include neurodiverse social practitioner and mixed-media sculptor Alison Lam, and colourful, mixed-media graphic design artist and painter Kika Pierides.
Jo Angell, a local abstract painter and co-chair of CEOS, said: “It’s a great opportunity to not only buy some really inspiring art at reasonable prices, but also mingle with local artists and get caught up in the buzzy vibe that makes Crouch End such a magnet for creatives.”
Father Ben Kerridge, vicar at Holy Innocents Church and a long-time supporter of Crouch End Art Trail said: “We love supporting the art trail. It really brings the community together, gets people walking from home to shop to gallery, and celebrates the deep well of creative talent we have here.”
