NORWAY — Positive, visual vibes will be hitting Norway’s Main Street to coax passersby to reflect on possibilities starting April 1 – and will stick around for several weeks.

Norway-based artist Peter Herley will feature his series ‘The Vibe’ courtesy of Norway Savings Bank at 356 Main Street and Norway Brewing Company at 237 Main Street. Eight storefront sized paintings will be shown at the bank’s headquarters April 1 and by April 4, 30 wall hangings will be on display down the street at the brew pub.

“This [exhibit] represents the introspective,” Herley says. “We all have The Vibe in us if we look down deep. Sometimes we don’t have to look deep, we can just enjoy a sunny day, or when someone smiles. That’s a good vibe.

“I want to help people with a good vibe, give them time to reflect and relax. There is so much hysteria and disrespect. And it was not brought on by any one thing. It’s happened before. You can blame the internet, or the personalities, but we all need to take an introspective of ourselves.”

Many visitors to Norway downtown will already be familiar with Herley’s work. This is the third year he has exhibited from the windows of NSB and has appeared at several other locations.

“My first show here was at Fare Share, when we relocated to Norway,” Herley said. “That was back in 2013.”

All works of The Vibe collection are available for sale. For pieces at NSB interested parties should contact the Western Maine Art Group. To acquire a piece on display at Norway Brewing people should inquire within about purchasing directly from the artist.

After recently offering a sneak peak of his The Vibe works through his Facebook page, Herley knew he was on the right track when one person posted in response: “Wow, The Vibe just brings on the grooviness, man!

“We’re trying to protect the good, it’s about good vibrations. There’s enough weirdness in the world.”
